Receive Your 13 Cards

Each player is dealt 13 cards. One card is placed face-up to start the discard pile. A random player is chosen to go first at the start of each round.

Meld Your Cards

Your goal is to arrange all 13 cards into valid sequences and sets. A pure sequence (no jokers) is mandatory — without it, you can't declare.

Draw and Discard

On each turn, pick a card from either the closed deck or the discard pile. Then discard one card you don't need to keep your hand at 13 cards.

Declare and Win the Round

When your hand is complete, discard your final card face-down and declare. Losing players' unmelded card values are added to their cumulative score. Hit 101 or 201 and you're out.

Valid Melds Explained

Pure Sequence

Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit — no jokers allowed. Example: 5♠ 6♠ 7♠. This is mandatory for a valid declaration on phpun's Pool Rummy tables.

Impure Sequence

A run of three or more consecutive cards from the same suit where a printed or wildcard joker substitutes for a missing card. Example: 8♥ Joker 10♥.

Set

Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. Example: K♠ K♥ K♦. Jokers can complete a set — but sets alone won't win you the round without valid sequences.

Joker Usage

Each game has a randomly selected wildcard joker plus printed jokers. They substitute for any card in impure sequences or sets — but cannot be used in your mandatory pure sequence.
